Kakofonium is a Poznań, Poland black metal project wrapped in an elaborate original mythology about 'Cybertemplars' who chose black metal as their weapon in a cosmic 'Final Crusade.' Musically it fuses raw/experimental black metal with cybergrind, synth-punk and dungeon-synth textures, self-described as 'cyber-blackened-death-metal.' It's DIY tape/bandcamp culture at its most conceptually unhinged.

A Baltimore black/death outfit active since 2013 that Metal Injection dubbed 'unconventional black metal freaks' — warped, noise-caked riffing in a Portal-adjacent vein, broken up by drone-soaked, Middle-Eastern-tinted instrumental interludes and horror-theatrical atmosphere. Their 2023 LP 'Akratic Parasitism' folds in 90s math-rock angularity (Slint, Rodan) alongside early Today Is The Day-style psychosis, all self-released through Bandcamp on their own terms.

Dadabots is the Boston-based duo of CJ Carr and Zack Zukowski, who began building neural-network music generators at MIT's Music Hack Day in 2012, training models directly on extreme-metal source albums to generate derivative works and a long-running 24/7 livestream. An unconventional candidate — a generative-AI project rather than a conventional band — but its documented use of specific atlas bands' music as direct training material creates real, citable relationships.

Biesy is a Kraków trio formed in 2014 around guitarist/bassist PR, joined by vocalist Stawrogin (also of Odraza, Totenmesse) and drummer MP (also of Outre), taking their concept from Dostoevsky's Demons and the alienation of urban life. Their 2017 debut Noc Lekkich Obyczajów (Third Eye Temple) delivers dissonant, disjointed black/death riffing compared to Ulcerate, Deathspell Omega, Immolation and Gorguts. The 2020 follow-up Transsatanizm (Godz ov War Productions) pushed further into avant-garde territory, layering industrial synths and looping electro beats over blackened riffs, described by reviewers as 'avangardish, industrial-infused post-rock/post-black.'

Dosanjos is a Sao Paulo black/death metal project built around raw riffing, claustrophobic dark-ambient drones, and dense noise textures, tagged by the band itself as 'schizometal.' Their lyrical world draws on cursed Brazilian poet Augusto dos Anjos, framing decomposition and existential horror through necro-poetic themes. Havohej ('Jehovah' backwards) is the long-running solo black metal/noise project of Paul Ledney (Profanatica, ex-Incantation), formed in New York in 1993 after Profanatica's initial breakup. Debut 'Dethrone the Son of God' (Candlelight Records, 1993) re-worked unreleased Profanatica material into raw satanic black metal with grindcore and ambient touches, and reissues plus later albums like 'Kembatinan Premaster' (2009) and 'Table of Uncreation' (2019) have pushed further into industrial black noise and ritual ambient territory via Hells Headbangers.

One-man experimental black metal/noise/dark-ambient project from Arlington, Virginia, active since the mid-2000s, self-releasing a run of CDs before signing to Flingco Sound System for Oneiromantical War (2008) and Myrmidon (2009).
