Telefon Tel Aviv is an American electronic act formed in 1999 in New Orleans by high-school friends Joshua Eustis and Charles Cooper, known for a lush, melodic strain of IDM, ambient techno, and glitch. Their debut Fahrenheit Fair Enough (2001) paired intricate glitch programming with warm, romantic textures, while the synth-driven Immolate Yourself (2009) marked a darker turn. Cooper died in January 2009 just as that album was released; Eustis put the project on hold before reviving it as sole member in 2016.

The Black Queen is an American dark synth-pop/electronic supergroup formed in Los Angeles in 2015, growing out of sessions Greg Puciato began in 2011 while fronting The Dillinger Escape Plan. The trio pairs Puciato's crooned vocals with the lush programmed synthwave of Joshua Eustis (Telefon Tel Aviv, ex-Nine Inch Nails) and Steven Alexander, a stark departure from Puciato's mathcore roots. They self-released their debut album Fever Daydream (2016) and followed with Infinite Games (2018) on their own Federal Prisoner label.

Beginning with Perdition City (2000), subtitled "Music to an Interior Film," Ulver stepped decisively over the boundaries of black metal into electronica, trip-hop, ambient, industrial and experimental rock. Kristoffer Rygg and keyboardist Tore Ylwizaker built loose concept albums out of programmed beats, synthesizers, samples and Rygg's crooning multi-tracked choirs, later expanding into synth-pop and orchestral arrangement. The 2017 album The Assassination of Julius Caesar reframed the band as an eighties-tinged art-pop act, cementing a reputation for reinvention. This era establishes Ulver as one of the most restlessly eclectic groups in North European music.

Black Hole Constellation is a Slovak project built around bassist/composer Michal Jahoda ('Jahoodster'), who writes, records and produces music he calls 'Cinematic Avant-Groove Metal' -- groove-driven riffs fused with horror-soundtrack atmosphere and avant-garde electronic production. Begun as a solo project around 2015, it became a functional two-piece once drummer Marian Leskovsky ('Majo') joined; the 2023 debut full-length Garden of Deception Delights also featured Norwegian vocalist Guro Eliassen Kverndokk and received Slovak Arts Council funding. Jahoda cites Meshuggah, Primus, Mr. Bungle, John Zorn and Frank Zappa among his influences.

Mixhell is the São Paulo-born electronic project founded in 2006 by former Sepultura drummer Iggor Cavalera and his wife Laima Leyton, which grew from a husband-and-wife DJ duo into a live three-piece with bassist Max Blum. Their sound welds techno, acid, disco and industrial to Cavalera's ferocious live drumming, landing somewhere between dance music and rock. The debut album Spaces (2013), mixed by Brazilian techno producer Gui Boratto and released on Boysnoize Records and Last Gang, features a guest vocal from Greg Puciato of The Dillinger Escape Plan on the single 'Exit Wound'.

Scorn is an experimental industrial, dub, and isolationist project formed in Birmingham, England, in 1991 by drummer Mick Harris and vocalist/bassist Nic Bullen, both former members of grindcore pioneers Napalm Death. Beginning as an industrial metal band on the 1992 debut Vae Solis, the project rapidly moved away from its metal roots toward dark dub, hip-hop, and post-industrial ambient, notably on 1994's Evanescence. Bullen left in April 1995, after which Harris (also of Painkiller with John Zorn and Bill Laswell) continued Scorn as a solo vehicle focused on extremely low, heavy bass frequencies.

House of Hayduk is the solo/collective vehicle of Düreforsög guitarist Mads Heldtberg. Its 2012 debut City of Quartz (Koolarrow Records) is an instrumental record built from analogue synthesizers, dub-inflected bass and free-form percussion, evoking a Blade Runner-style dystopia (the title nods to Mike Davis's book on Los Angeles). Faith No More bassist Billy Gould performs on the record, alongside This Heat's Charles Hayward.

Hint is a French avant-garde industrial/noise-rock duo from Angers formed in 1993-94 by multi-instrumentalists Arnaud Fournier and Hervé Thomas, backed by sound engineer Pascal Ianigro. Across albums like 100% White Puzzle, Product Topology, Dys- and Wu-Wei they fused dissonant guitars, screaming saxophone/trumpet, samples and industrial rhythms with ethereal, cinematic and traditional-music passages, including a split 7" with Unsane and a 2009 collaborative tour with electronic act EZ3kiel.

KK Null (Kazuyuki Kishino, b. 1961, Tokyo) is a prolific Japanese noise and experimental musician — composer, guitarist, vocalist and electronicist — who founded the progressive-hardcore trio Zeni Geva and the project Absolut Null Punkt, and has released well over 100 albums. His solo electronics moved onto Neurot Recordings with Atomik Disorder (2003) and Oxygen Flash (2009). He has collaborated widely, with named partners including Merzbow, Keiji Haino, James Plotkin, John Zorn, Fred Frith, Jim O'Rourke and Boredoms' Seiichi Yamamoto.
