Archangel is an avant-garde/electronic metal band from Venice, Italy, formed in 1994, notable for a groove-metal-rooted early sound that evolved into a symphonic, industrial, and electronically-inflected style incorporating elements as varied as saxophone passages within metal arrangements. Their 1996/97 debut 'In Tears the Angel Falls...' is often cited as a landmark avant-garde metal record and the band has been credited by some (including their own promotion) as the first metal act to tune entirely to the Golden Mean-derived 432 Hz standard. They continued releasing conceptually ambitious albums through 2010's 'The Story of My Immor(t)al Life', with core member Vam Kama Ocean Archangel (vocals/keyboards) present since formation.

A Perfect Circle is an American rock supergroup formed in Los Angeles in 1999 by guitarist Billy Howerdel, a former guitar tech for Tool, Nine Inch Nails and the Smashing Pumpkins, and Tool vocalist Maynard James Keenan. Fronting a more melodic, art-rock-leaning counterpart to Tool, the band broke through with the platinum debut Mer de Noms (2000) and its David Fincher-directed single "Judith." The rotating lineup has drawn from across alternative rock, with Smashing Pumpkins guitarist James Iha, session drummer Josh Freese, and bassist Matt McJunkins among its long-running members. After a long hiatus the group returned with Eat the Elephant (2018).

こくまろみるく (Kokumaromilk) is a Japanese avant-garde outfit that dresses power and symphonic metal foundations in noise interludes, jazz-pop detours, and a vocalist who swings between saccharine-cute and unhinged within the same song. Reviewers place it alongside Sigh and Gonin-Ish in Japan's weird-metal lineage, praising its whiplash genre-shifts. Mixhell is the São Paulo-born electronic project founded in 2006 by former Sepultura drummer Iggor Cavalera and his wife Laima Leyton, which grew from a husband-and-wife DJ duo into a live three-piece with bassist Max Blum. Their sound welds techno, acid, disco and industrial to Cavalera's ferocious live drumming, landing somewhere between dance music and rock. The debut album Spaces (2013), mixed by Brazilian techno producer Gui Boratto and released on Boysnoize Records and Last Gang, features a guest vocal from Greg Puciato of The Dillinger Escape Plan on the single 'Exit Wound'.

Nine Inch Nails is Trent Reznor's industrial rock project, running from Pretty Hate Machine (1989) through The Downward Spiral, The Fragile, With Teeth, Hesitation Marks and Bad Witch. Atticus Ross joined as an official co-member in 2016 after years as Reznor's key collaborator and co-composer on their film scores. The catalog is built on layered, distorted programming and guitar — "industrial-strength noise over a pop framework" — distinct from the ambient instrumental Ghosts series the band also releases under its own name.

Aberrant Vascular is a Helsinki, Finland project built in 2003 around opera vocalist Vladimir "Lumi" and keyboardist Heikki "Mr. Rych" Pöntinen, releasing a single album, Aegisthus (2012), that layers operatic vocal theatrics over trip-hop beats, industrial synths and guitar riffing. It has been namechecked alongside Arcturus, Solefald, Vulture Industries and Sleepytime Gorilla Museum for its bombastic, genre-blending approach, though reviewers note the metal riffing itself stays fairly conventional under the vocal pyrotechnics.

Puscifer is the shape-shifting studio-and-performance-art project of vocalist Maynard James Keenan, formed in Los Angeles around 2003 out of a fictional band gag from HBO's Mr. Show. Where his other bands Tool and A Perfect Circle deal in heavy rock, Puscifer wanders through electronic rock, trip-hop, art rock and post-industrial textures, wrapped in tongue-in-cheek desert-Americana theatrics. The core trio of Keenan, multi-instrumentalist/producer Mat Mitchell and singer Carina Round fuse music, live performance and visual art into a single conceptual whole.

The Black Queen is an American dark synth-pop/electronic supergroup formed in Los Angeles in 2015, growing out of sessions Greg Puciato began in 2011 while fronting The Dillinger Escape Plan. The trio pairs Puciato's crooned vocals with the lush programmed synthwave of Joshua Eustis (Telefon Tel Aviv, ex-Nine Inch Nails) and Steven Alexander, a stark departure from Puciato's mathcore roots. They self-released their debut album Fever Daydream (2016) and followed with Infinite Games (2018) on their own Federal Prisoner label.

Flagman is a funk-metal/avant-metal band founded in 2015 in Orlando, Florida by bassist-vocalist Sam Stewart and guitarist Cody Singleton, later relocating to Seattle, Washington. Their sound centers on Stewart's Les Claypool-indebted slap bass and theatrical, character-voiced vocals, wearing clear influences from Primus, Mr. Bungle, System of a Down, and Faith No More across releases like 'Thank You, Come Again' (2022), 'Tastes Incredible' (2024), and the industrial-tinged EP 'Before The Blast' (2025). Beta Satan is a Copenhagen band that grew out of the remnants of Tiger Tunes, pairing 'festive hard rock' and post-punk with danceable electro and high-pitched, new-rave synth tones. Their 2008 debut Girls (Crunchy Frog) was a fast, arrogant, complex record whose lineup overlaps heavily with The Malpractice. The five-piece unites drummer Klaus Q. Hedegaard Nielsen and singer Kåre Rolf Hansen from Tiger Tunes with guitarist/I Am Bones frontman Johannes Gammelby, baritone guitarist Kenneth Nørby Andersen and keyboardist Morten Riis.
