Umbrtka is a prolific Czech black/doom/industrial project from Plzeň, active since 1999 and centered on a self-invented industrial deity presiding over the city's factories, railways and scrapyards. Their 'grey metal' sound layers dissonant black metal with field recordings, mechanical noise and surreal spoken-word narration. František 'Franta' Štorm — closely associated with Czech black metal pioneers Master's Hammer — served as a past vocalist.

Hail Spirit Noir is a Greek band from Thessaloniki (formed 2010) that welds 1970s psychedelic and progressive rock — vintage organ, synth and mellotron textures — onto a modern second-wave black metal frame. Founded by Haris and Theoharis, both veterans of the prog outfit Rex Mundi and the avant/symphonic project Transcending Bizarre?, the band cultivates an occult, horror-tinged atmosphere across concept albums, drifting further into synth-forward territory on Eden in Reverse. Midnight Odyssey is the one-man cosmic/atmospheric black metal outlet of Brisbane's Dis Pater, running concept albums soaked in mythology since 2007. Its sprawling Biolume trilogy (2019-2023) folds synth-driven ambient drone, neoclassical arrangement, and doom-metal pacing around a core of raw, lo-fi black metal. The project regularly spins off pure ambient/ kosmische material and symphonic re-recordings alongside the metal proper, making atmosphere as central to its identity as riffs.

Seattle avant-garde doom/post-black metal band formed in 2012 around vocalist Joy Von Spain, melding melodic black metal, glacial doom, and psychedelic sludge into operatic, ghost-story atmospherics. Signed to Prophecy Productions, their catalog (Moros, Black Somnia, Ligeia) has been called too glacial for sludge, too disjointed for black metal, and too melodic for noise — a genuinely hard-to-pin-down hybrid.

Blackholepit is a one-off industrial/black-metal side-project by Venezuelan producer Federico Ágreda (Zardonic), released as the free 2008 album 'Portals' on Death To Music Productions. Described by the artist as 'the most metal of all his projects,' it mixes black metal atmospheres with industrial soundscapes, dark ambient textures, and IDM/electronic production across nine tracks including 'Angiel,' 'Blackhole,' and 'Solitude.'

Leukotomy was a black metal duo from Hanoi, Vietnam, formed in late 2020 and active until 2023. Their sole full-length, 'Eternal Path to Eden' (House of Ygra, March 2023), is a nine-part conceptual 'tragedy' set in a gothic world, blending second-wave black metal aesthetics with avant-garde, noise, and ambient elements to tell a story of vengeance, mental torment, and unrequited love. The album was produced by Imperial Cult (Elcrost), mastered by Nemo Lockeheart, and features spoken-word passages by Sam Tang.

Chiva was a Swiss atmospheric doom/black metal and darkwave project from Sion, Valais, formed in 1996 as a parallel/solo outlet for the person behind the band Sadness, described in its own liner notes as 'a desire to realise my personal work through a different and majestic music.' The sole release, the CD 'Oracle morte' (1996, Witchhunt Records/SPV), features four tracks exploring sadness, loneliness, winter and majesty, with additional vocals from Robert Frost on 'Fire And Ice.'
