Psykup is a French experimental/groove metal band from Toulouse, active since 1995, known for self-describing their genre-blending sound as 'autruche core' (ostrich core) and citing Strapping Young Lad, Mr. Bungle, and Primus as touchstones. Celebrity Sex Scandal is an avant-garde metal band from San Antonio, Texas, formed in 2011 by guitarist Greg Combs after the dissolution of Dog Fashion Disco, effectively continuing that band's eclectic funk/ska/metal/pop hybrid with a horn section. Koenji Hyakkei (Kōenji Hyakkei, "Hundred Sights of Koenji") is a Japanese zeuhl band founded in Tokyo in 1991 by drummer/vocalist Tatsuya Yoshida as his tribute to the operatic, chant-driven Zeuhl idiom pioneered by France's Magma. Fronting frantic, meticulously composed avant-prog sung in an invented language, Yoshida remains the band's only constant across an evolving cast, steering the sound from folk-tinged prog toward the jazz-fusion complexity of Angherr Shisspa (2005). The group records for Yoshida's own Magaibutsu label in Japan and Skin Graft Records in North America.

Panzerballett is a Munich jazz-metal quintet founded in 2004 and led by guitarist-composer Jan Zehrfeld, fusing delicate interlocking funk grooves with brutally hard, polyrhythmic Meshuggah-informed riffs and genuine jazz improvisation. Alongside Zehrfeld's originals they stage virtuosic reinterpretations spanning Deep Purple, Meshuggah and Weather Report, and are known for comedic, theatrical live shows. Signed to ACT Records, their guest-heavy albums (e.g. Planet Z, Übercode Œuvre) recruit elite fusion drummers.

Buckethead (Brian Patrick Carroll) is an American guitarist from the San Francisco Bay Area, famous for performing in a white mask and a KFC bucket and for one of the most prolific solo discographies in music, numbering hundreds of albums. His playing spans thrash, fingerpicking, slap and avant-improv, and he conceives much of his output as soundtracks for rides at his imaginary amusement park, Bucketheadland. He released his 1992 debut on John Zorn's Avant label and that same year became the guitarist of Bill Laswell's supergroup Praxis.

Edge of Reality is a Nashville art-metal quintet whose 2019 album In Static packs jazz-inflected saxophone, carnival theatrics, and djent-adjacent riffing into a maximalist, constantly shifting progressive-metal frame. Reviewers place them alongside Native Construct, Thank You Scientist and Haken: dense, technically ambitious, occasionally overstuffed songwriting paired with a comedic, narrative-driven concept. Guitarist Joey Frevola also plays in UK prog act KYROS and LA's An Endless Sporadic, though neither is part of the EMMA atlas.
